Strasbourg railway station: a very unusual station!
Your hotel is just 100 metres from the Strasbourg SNCF railway station.
In the 1880s ...In 1883, the German authorities inaugurated Strasbourg station, the work of Johann Jacobsthal. This station, a listed historical monument in the neo-renaissance style, had a facade overlooking a garden which has unfortunately disappeared.
Strasbourg TGV station today ...In 2007, the station, which was welcoming more and more visitors thanks to the arrival of the TGV in the east of France (linking Paris to Strasbourg in less than 2 hours 30 minutes instead of 4 hours), had to be enlarged while preserving its historical character. A challenge that was met!
More practical and comfortable, without touching the foundations of this mythical station, the architects were able to turn this historic building into a contemporary station thanks to a very large glass bubble in the shape of a globe.
The little plus of this new architectureDepending on the light and the time of day when you go to Strasbourg Station, you will be able to see the old station from the outside thanks to a transparency effect.
When you visit Strasbourg Station, don't hesitate to stroll around the station square, which is made up of a contemporary square with a hectare of garden with over 200 trees.
